Kickoff 2025

4917 is excited to announce that the official game for this season has been released!

On Saturday January 4th, our team traveled to Woodland Christian High School to attend the Kickoff event. Our members participated in a variety of seminars, learning different strategies from software to branding to robot design, taught and led by mentors from different teams in the Waterloo Wellington region. Afterwards, we watched the reveal video which fueled everyone's excitement to start planning the ultimate robot design. That evening, our team went home and read the handbook to better understand all the unique and complex rules associated with this new game.

The next day, our team met to discuss our strategy for the new game. We participated in a simulation to test out what different strategies could work to earn the most points possible. This consisted of lots of laughter and, of course, valuable learning. After the simulation our team had to make some tough decisions on which elements of the game we wanted to accomplish and which ones we are going to say no to. With much debate, we were able to narrow our goals and focus on creating a robot that excels in a few key tasks rather than an average robot that tries to do everything
