Build Weeks 3 & 4

We have now completed week 4 of build season! The robot is coming along and everyone is working hard to get it assembled and running.
Week 3 was very quiet due to it being exam week. Normally we would be very busy with students coming in when they finish their exams, but the recent job action limited our access to the school. The team had limited time to work which has slowed our progress. This week we are working really hard to catch up.

Build has been busy assembling subsystem prototypes. The chassis and gearboxes have been assembled and mounted and the drivetrain and shooter prototypes are complete! The other subsystems such as the intake and climb are in the process of being assembled as well. Build has finished building the power port and shield generator for our practice field. Software and drive can now use the field to test out the prototype robot!

Software has been testing out drivetrain code using the prototype robot on the practice field. They have also been working on other code for things such as the limelight and colour sensor.

Media has been experimenting with taking photos and videos of our progress during week three of build. However, due to exams taking place, our team members haven’t been able to take as many pictures during week four. They will continue to design team swag and take more pictures in the following weeks.

Business is still receiving commitments from sponsors and have been working on creating emails to thank all of our sponsors. The Woodie Flowers essay was written and edited as well. The team is also making plans for a pancake breakfast that we are holding later this month. This event will be for team members, sponsors, alumni and families of members, since we are missing the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. This will also give the attendees a chance to see what we have been up to all build season!

Design has been using Solidworks to design parts for the final robot. They are working on the drivetrain, shooter, intake, and hang subsystems.

Safety has been having weekly meetings to ensure the team is working safely and has a safe work environment.

Check back next week for a week 5 update!
