3... 2... 1... Kickoff!
This year, our team went to Conestoga College for Kickoff on January 4, 2020, alongside seven other teams from Waterloo Wellington First Robotics Organization (WWFRO). The game is called Infinite Recharge and is presented by Star Wars. At kickoff, students, parents and mentors attended seminars based on interests, with some 4917 mentors hosting seminars. On January 5, the team held a brainstorming session for team members, parents and mentors in order to prioritize elements of the game and begin to design our robot for this season. We are looking forward to the season!
Game Description:
Infinite Recharge features many new elements. A fifteen second autonomous mode makes a reappearance, which is followed by 2 minutes 15 seconds of teleoperated game-play. In this challenge, balls called power cells are shot into three ports. Robots must score the required number of power cells in order to activate sections of the shield generator, a large structure in the middle of the field. In addition, a colour wheel must either be spun a set number of times or rotated to a specific colour to score more points and activate sections of the shield generator. At the end of the match, robots go to a Rendezvous point under a swinging hanger in the shield generator, called a generator switch. Robots attempt to hang from the generator switch, with extra points awarded if the switch is level.
