North Bay District
This past weekend our team went to our second and last district event in North Bay. After our last event in Waterloo we were able to find our strengths and some places we needed to make slight improvements to so we did what we could. After a combination of highs and lows on Friday throughout the qualifying rounds, we placed 10th. We were lucky to be selected by the second alliance team 1305, Ice Cubed. We had won a qualifying match with on Friday. We gratefully accepted their offer and carried on to select team 4519 to finish off our alliance.
In the quarterfinals we won by successfully completing a double climb with our alliance captain to the platform 18” off the ground! This is something that is challenging and has not been successfully done many times this season but allowed us to get many extra points. After this amazing accomplishment we were excited to continue to demonstrate our abilities in the semi finals where we had to face some amazing teams. We were able to win with some close calls and double climbs to raise our score.
In the first round of finals we lost after a failed climb attempt, despite our reliable climb throughout the season. We were able to get it working again after making a couple of quick adjustments and won the second match. There was a lot riding on this tiebreaker and we were all sitting at the edge of our seats, waiting to see how everything would play out. After an intense game and a time of anticipation we saw the score and we won!! We were ecstatic and so proud that all our hard work paid off, knowing this win made us qualify for the District Championship in Mississauga. This has been our second year in a row to win at the North Bay Event!
