This preseason, we have been busy with Stemley Cup and many outreach events, including the Kiwanis Food Drive, Santa Claus Parade and running a mini First Lego League Competition.
We started the year off with Stemley where we made the semifinals!! Good game to all teams that were there!
Then we helped with the Kiwanis Food Drive where there were 200 volunteers who collected over 300 boxes of food!!! The Santa Claus Parade was shortly after, where we dressed up in costumes, handed out candy and held banners in the parade. In early December, we volunteered at a local Breakfast with Santa. Here, we served food, sold tickets for a toonie auction and washed dishes.
We also hosted a mini FLL competition where the Space Chickens and the Wild Goats came over to EDSS before attending their competition the weekend after. Both teams did very well in the mini competition as well as in the Waterloo qualifying competition. See here for more about how they did!
For team 4917, we have been meeting in subgroups to practice for the upcoming season, as well as performing a drive train study to figure out which drive train is the most effective for certain scenarios. Keep checking the website for updates on our build season coming up!
